Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal Ruled Out of Sevilla Clash with Groin Injury

FC Barcelona have suffered a major setback ahead of their La Liga clash with Sevilla this Sunday, as teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has been ruled out due to a recurring groin problem.

The 18-year-old winger, who has been one of Barça’s standout performers this season, felt discomfort in the pubic area following the recent Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain. Medical tests confirmed a relapse of the groin injury that had sidelined him earlier in the campaign.

In an official statement, Barcelona announced:

> “The groin problem for Lamine Yamal has returned following the game against PSG. The player will miss the game against Sevilla and his recovery time is estimated at 2–3 weeks.”

This means Yamal will not only sit out the Sevilla match but is also expected to miss Spain’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria, having already been withdrawn from Luis de la Fuente’s squad.

For Barcelona, the absence of their youngest ever La Liga scorer comes at a difficult moment. The team faces a tight schedule in both domestic and European competitions, and coach Xavi Hernández will need to reshuffle his attacking options.

Yamal, often dubbed the “crown jewel” of Barça’s famed La Masia academy, has already broken numerous records this year and remains central to the club’s long-term plans. His enforced break, however, will give opportunities to other attackers such as Ferran Torres and Raphinha to step up in his place.

Barcelona fans will be hoping Yamal’s recovery goes smoothly, as his creativity and spark have been crucial to the team’s attacking play this season.
