Job Title: Driver
Experience Required: 1 – 4 years
Location: Borno
The Driver, reporting to the Logistics Officer or as delegated, will be responsible for transporting FHI 360 staff, consultants, equipment, and program materials. Duties will include movements between the office, guest houses, hotels, airport, hospitals, partner offices, warehouses, and other designated locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect the vehicle before use each morning and after use.
Verify that items on the vehicle checklist and tools inventory are complete and functional before starting duty.
Report any damage or fault immediately.
Submit monthly reports on mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance to the head driver.
Ensure that all trips are pre-approved.
Record details of every journey in the logbook at departure and upon return.
Keep vehicle documents, including insurance, valid and up to date at all times.
Secure keys and vehicle papers when the vehicle is not in use.
Make sure all passengers fasten seat belts before moving.
Adhere to approved speed limits and FHI 360’s fleet management policies.
Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses without delay.
Prioritize the safety and security of passengers during trips.
Follow security guidelines and protocols.
Provide support to logistics and warehouse teams as needed.
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to respond promptly to emergency callouts.
Capable of transporting staff, goods, and materials safely.
Ensure full compliance with visibility and security protocols.
Maintain vehicles in a clean and tidy state, both inside and outside.
Basic skills in diagnosing vehicle faults and handling minor repairs.
Willingness to provide logistics support when required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of SSCE/NECO Certificate.
1–4 years of proven driving experience with a reputable organization (INGOs, private sector, or government).
Background in mechanics or auto-electrical work is an advantage.
Previous experience in the Northeast or other insecure areas is desirable.
Must hold a valid Nigerian driver’s license.
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, Hausa, and Kanuri.
Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
