Service Expectations
The Graphic Design Assistant will support the UN80 project by producing creative design materials. The role also involves providing professional input for booths and tents during inter-agency exhibitions, designing banners and campaign materials for the 16 Days of Activism (25 November – 10 December), and overseeing the design and production of the UN Nigeria 2026 tabletop calendar.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Graphic Design Assistant will handle creative communication tasks aimed at promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030 in Nigeria. Working with the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team, the Assistant will help bring the UN’s communication strategy to life at the national level.
Reporting Line:
Reports to the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office.
UNIC will provide day-to-day supervision.
Duty station: Abuja.
Main Responsibilities:
Design themes, infographics, document layouts, and covers.
Develop creative visuals for newsletters, brochures, banners, posters, flyers, and booklets.
Prepare graphic templates for reports and presentations.
Organize complete printing packages, including layouts and design files, for publications and communication products.
Propose innovative concepts for print, web, and interactive presentations, offering technical input on new media usage.
Create simple animations and visual illustrations.
Maintain and update templates (InDesign, CorelDraw, Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Provide photography and videography support for the RCO.
Build and manage a photo and video library.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum requirement: High school diploma.
A bachelor’s degree in IT, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a certified CAD-related field is an added advantage and reduces the required years of experience.
At least two (2) years of relevant experience in CAD environments, especially Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDraw, and strong familiarity with MS Office tools.
Evidence of professional experience is required, particularly for candidates without academic qualifications.
Language Requirements
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
Knowledge of French or another UN official language will be considered an advantage.
