Purpose of the Role
This consultancy aims to design and deliver a professional French language training initiative that will:
Build strong oral and written communication skills in French for effective collaboration with francophone colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
Enable participants to apply French directly in professional settings such as reporting, presentations, fieldwork, and regional engagements.
Improve staff readiness for deployment to French-speaking duty stations.
Strengthen UNICEF Nigeria’s operational integration across West and Central Africa, where bilingual skills are essential.
Scope of Work
Phase 1 – Planning and Inception
Meet with HR and Learning & Development focal persons to align on objectives, methods, and timelines.
Develop and submit a detailed training plan covering curriculum, learning resources, evaluation framework, and reporting schedule.
Phase 2 – Grouping & Training Calendar
Conduct baseline language assessments for all participants.
Assign learners to groups according to their proficiency and learning needs.
Create a structured training calendar and set up classes with necessary tools and digital platforms.
Phase 3 – Training Delivery
Facilitate engaging and interactive French learning sessions.
Provide continuous feedback and adapt lesson content as needed.
Track attendance and maintain participant records.
Phase 4 – Mid-Term Review
Assess learner progress compared to initial baseline results.
Gather feedback from participants to identify challenges.
Refine training methods where necessary for improved results.
Final Stage – Evaluation & Reporting
Conduct final assessments to measure learning outcomes.
Document how skills have transferred into workplace use.
Prepare a comprehensive final report including lessons learned, recommendations, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) data.
Identify and train “language champions” to sustain practice sessions after the program ends.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Master’s degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or related discipline.
At least 7–10 years’ experience in designing and delivering French (or other second language) training programs for adults.
Demonstrated success in workplace language training, curriculum development, and delivery across diverse staff groups.
Solid knowledge of adult learning methodologies and communicative language teaching techniques.
Recognized certification in language teaching (e.g., DELF/DALF, Alliance Française, or similar).
Access to large training venues in UNICEF Nigeria’s coverage states to support hybrid learning formats if required.
